Cathedral Game
pinshape
These are the various parts of a custom board game piece set based on the wooden Cathedral game. Simple, basic shapes abound, offering many ways to customize and add details such as shingles, stonework, gargoyles, windows, or ripples in fountains. You could also pull other models in for substitute pieces, provided they fit within the spaces, and prime and paint them however you desire. Printed on an Afinia, these 3D printed pieces feature a large hole and varying print times of approximately 2.5 to 4.5 hours per file, depending on the chosen settings. The actual print time will fluctuate based on scale and print settings. When printing on perf board, be cautious not to tear out the bottom if you don't provide sufficient infill or rush through the process. To optimize efficiency, I aligned objects to fit within Afinia/Up platform sizes while maintaining uniform print directions and object heights. You may need to make slight adjustments to the two "C" shaped buildings due to close tolerances and potential ABS expansion issues that could cause pieces to fit too snugly. Printing 4x of the game border file will enclose the entire city if desired. I created these custom board game pieces as substitutes for a worn-out Cathedral World set, which suffered from lost pieces. I also designed them to be used in our travel set, which was originally scratch-built from wood. This new design allows users to print different color ABS or scale them to various sizes. The church features a hollow cross cut through all four sides of the tower, which can be challenging to clear out but is possible.
