To find a suitable suspension system, I extensively searched but could not locate any commercial options for my design. As an engineer, I decided to create a custom solution using off-the-shelf wheel bearings and hubs with minimal machining. De Wet Pienaar from South Africa suggested redesigning the frames to reduce width, which was implemented. Interested in designing a fiberglass cover for the trailer? The goal is to protect the car from debris and rain while improving aerodynamics. The current render uses over-designed tubing sections (160mm x 80mm), but the final Catfish trailer will require only 120mm x 60mm sections for a lighter load capacity. Additionally, the redesign successfully lowered the center of gravity of the load by lowering the load bed, which is beneficial for high-speed towing.
