Catfish Challenge
grabcad
This innovative design utilizes a car's weight to level itself, thanks to independent cams that raise and lower the deck when pulled forward or in reverse. The steel frame and aluminum deck are made from readily available materials, with no special equipment needed for fabrication. A 4-5 inch dropped axle, leaf springs, dampener, and standard tires ensure stability and support for loads up to 3500lbs per tire. Once backed into a garage, the trailer can be raised to a height of 27 inches using a supplied jack, with lockable jack stands providing secure positioning. This allows easy access to engine bay, suspension, and rear-end components for maintenance. Customers have options for a base model featuring a hydraulic brake coupler, platform-style wheel wells, rear tire/tool deck, front tongue deck, and a removable slip-on winch, enabling future upgrades. Credits go to Robert Harvey BSc (Hons) for the jockey wheel, Andrey Jasiukaitis for the suspension design, and Milan Suchy for the winch.
