Catedral de Jaca - Puerta Oeste
sketchfab
The Cathedral of Saint Peter in Jaca (province of Huesca, Aragon, Spain), is one of the most characteristic and ancient constructions of Romanesque architecture in Spain. It began to be constructed almost at the same time as that of Santiago de Compostela in the last quarter of the 11th century as an episcopal see and capital of the Kingdom of Aragon by initiative of King Sancho Ramirez, who had obtained papal vassalage after his trip to Rome in 1068, resulting from which he was granted the episcopal see. In the western facade of the cathedral we find the atrium and the entrance, whose arch of larger radius, semicircular, links with the central nave, of barrel vault, of the interior of the temple. On the tympanum of this facade, the main one of the cathedral, there is an exceptional piece: the crismón, symbol of Aragonese monarchy6 and with a clear trinitarian and penitent character. We can find a very large portico.
