The game board is composed of 3x4 squares, making the overall experience relatively short and ideal for sparking children's interest in Shogi - but even adults will find it enjoyable. The giraffe moves similarly to a rook, but with one crucial difference: it only covers one space. The elephant moves identically to a bishop, yet its movement is also limited to just one space. In direct analogy to the pawn/soldier of Shogi, the chick functions as a key piece in this game. Upon promotion, the chick transforms into a full-grown chicken, equivalent in strength to the gold general in Shogi. The lion plays the role of king, but with an added twist: victory can be achieved solely through promotion, provided it does not leave the player vulnerable to check. Even on a 3x4 board, players have the option to strategically drop captured pieces into the game. A unique aspect of this version is that players can use chicks for mating purposes or place two chicks in the same column - a capability not available in traditional Shogi.
