Catch More Fish
cults3d
An automatic hook setter for a standard ice fishing rod significantly boosts your chance of landing fish, by instantly setting the hook when the fish bites the bait. This device is also kinder to fish than traditional methods if you're practicing catch and release, as it prevents the fish from swallowing the hook. As a result, you'll get more hookups in the mouth. Once triggered, lift the rod out of its holder and you have a conventional rod and reel to bring in your fish. The hook-setting process is triggered when the fish tugs on the bait, pulling the line which releases the zigzag catch at the end of the rod. The spring-loaded rod, bent to begin with, now goes straight, rapidly pulling on the line and setting the hook. This device utilizes the versatile Plastic T-Slot by ProtoParadigm for its legs. Some notable features include: Collapsible design with quick-release clamps makes it easy to transport. Works seamlessly with the reel handle on either side of the rod. Thoroughly tested, and it really works. The catch can also be used for shore fishing with a regular rod and rod holder. Very affordable to replicate! I highly recommend combining this device with "Fish-On Now!" (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:53840) so you know when a fish has been caught and avoid tiring the fish. WARNING / DISCLAIMER: Do not place your face over this device, as accidental deployment or an incoming fish could cause injury to your face or eyes. Also, applying too much tension can break your rod. Use at your own risk. Also, check local regulations regarding automatic hook setters, as some areas may prohibit their use. To my knowledge, most do allow them, but Ontario and Minnesota are exceptions. Requirements: * 2 x 6-32 Nut * 2 x 6-32 x 2 inch countersunk machine screw * 2ft fishing line with a minimum test weight of 8lb
