I designed a small socket for attaching great 3D Catan terrain pieces by JAWong: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:26979. Simply print out the socket and press a Ø5 mm sphere magnet into each of its six holes, then stick your Terrain Piece onto it firmly. Just be sure that no glue seeps into those holes to ensure the magnets can freely rotate without any obstructions. Goodbye to borders, a problem now of the past.
