Catan extra piece holder with case
thingiverse
I loved this holder, but I needed something that could hold my extra pieces for storage securely. So, I added a small lip to the bottom of the holder, followed by a box that would wrap around it perfectly. A "tablet" piece was glued on top, it's just a lid, but since it has a design, I separated it so it would print without any issues or supports required. All I had to do was glue it in place. This is the "Wide Road" version of the holder, which fits the roads as printed when I printed them perfectly. I've printed a few test pieces for this, but encountered a layer shift issue. Now, I'm printing a new set and hopefully will get some pictures up tomorrow (after I print all three parts). It's designed specifically for a Monoprice Maker Select v2 with a 200x200mm bed. You can only print two "parts" at a time, so the tablet has to be printed separately, which is fine because I want to try using cura's ironing feature on it. Plus, I wanted the option not to have it on the rest. This is my first published thing, so please accept my apologies if I made any mistakes. Update 12/12/2017: I needed a good way to hold the pieces together that went with the magnet theme, so I edited the models to include a 3mmx1mm depression for a disk magnet (it's actually slightly larger to accommodate for my printer's tendency to print things smaller than it should). I'm not really satisfied with how it works on the box. I wanted a little tolerance for fit, so the box is 1mm thinner than the lip on the holder. This makes the magnet offset, and makes it so that it won't really print the inner gap. It's an aesthetics thing, shouldn't affect functionality once you glue the magnet in place, but I may edit it and make it look better, just wanted to put this up for anyone wanting to print it. Update 2 for 12/12/2017: After some thinking, I redesigned with a slightly larger lip and slightly wider walls to accommodate for the magnet. Also, I designed that pin that goes into it; the pin existed in the thin road variant, but not the wide road that I've remixed, but it was just slightly too big. I scaled it down a bit. When my magnets come in, I'll take some photos of them installed (assuming they fit properly of course).
