Catan Cities & Knights Lightweight 8-deck Tiered Resource Card Holder
thingiverse
I liked several of the existing Catan resource card holder models, but many either didn't support Cities and Knights or used way too much material than I am comfortable using on a project like this (my favorite was 90m at 0.15mm / 5% infill). At these same settings, this requires ~21m of filament. Designed this vertical holder from scratch in SketchUp Make 2016. It is about as low-poly as possible given the design, though a couple curves ruined coplanarity of two deck floors, requiring me to make a handful of extra triangles. Intended for 54x80mm cards (taller is fine I guess). Each deck holder is approximately 55x60x12mm with a 9.5 degree slant. Filleted retainers for open edges are 10mm wide and 40mm tall. All walls are 1mm thick. Subsequent tiers are raised progressively 5mm. Kickstands to accommodate slant are 15mm long, filleted. This is designed to require minimal infill, as the only significant solid portion is under the 2nd and 3rd tiers. I elected to leave this portion solid so that you can use your own common sense and good judgment to determine your balance of infill and bridging. There are no bridging perimeters on the exterior of the object, so unless you are printing in transparent filament or have too few layers of solid infill on the bottom, nobody has to know how messy your bridging actually is. Upon testing, cards fit perfectly with only a tiny amount of wiggle room. All are accessible, and it is fairly easy to see which is which. The kickstands are stable, and the whole contraption is still slim enough to fit in the box. I'm always open to suggestions for improvements though!
