3D Settlers of CATAN design, magnetically attachedThis is my design for a 3D printed settlers of catan. I designed all the parts from scratch in Autodesk Inventor and 3D printed them in PLA. My wife and I then painted and sealed them. The entire project took about 3 months of work.A few things to note:Each resource tile has 2 versions, you can choose one of them to print or print both for tile variety. The resource tiles are attached magnetically. I bought some magnetic balls (quite cheap) which pop into the holes at the bottom of each tile. Because the balls are loose inside of the hole, the poles will automatically attract which allows any tile to attach to another without worrying about the orientation. I used the magnetic idea from (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1238980), but I used larger 5mm magnets which hold together quite solidly. It makes it actually faster to set up than the out of the box tiles. Each player color has a different design for its pieces. I took inspiration from medieval castles and architecture. I tried to mimic the Norse, English, Spanish, and Russian styles.
