Catamaran Balloon Boat
thingiverse
My son adored the Balloon Boat designed by Keyes, but I wanted to create an even faster and more stable vessel. This led me to brainstorm modifying it into a Catamaran. Having two hulls would significantly increase stability and twice the power from two balloons! This model can be printed without supports. Changes made: 1) I narrowed the hull down to just under half its original width, transforming it into a sleek Catamaran. 2) I added a sturdy bridge connecting the two hulls, ensuring seamless Lego compatibility with 9.6 mm higher and 16 mm lateral spacing. 3) I slightly reduced the diameter of the chimney for the balloon mount, making it easier to attach while maintaining air-tight integrity. 4) I decreased the relief for the balloon rim to sit in, providing ample grip without compromising removal ease. 5) I revamped the air channel, ensuring an airtight seal. By moving the bottom closer to the hull's base (1.6 mm thickness), you can print it with a top/bottom thickness of 0.8 mm or more. The angled top of the channel eliminates bridging requirements. *** Enjoy printing one and consider sharing your masterpiece! ***
