Cat Toy
thingiverse
This cat toy, resembling a hollow sphere with a pentagonal opening, houses a few jingle bells inside and boasts walls adorned by cat images. The design elements come from MaakMijnldee's cookie cutter collection (thing:35495), with additional images incorporated into the openSCAD code. My daughter's feline friend is particularly fond of it, although its love for almost any ball cannot be denied. The lid is printed separately and attached after inserting the bells, using acetone or glue as adhesive. Both the sphere body and lid require external support during printing. To execute the openSCAD code successfully, "Animals_dxf.zip" must be unzipped and made accessible to the program. Inside this archive is the cat DXF file and other images needed for the toy's creation. The code produces an STL file with two shells simultaneously; MeshLab's "Select Connected Components in a Region" command helps separate these parts. To ensure a snug fit, the lid has been scaled by 1.015. Additionally, the openSCAD code offers instructions for crafting the toy as a single-shell model without the opening.
