Cat Stretch

Cat Stretch

This is a scan of a small cat statue in a stretch pose, constantly being knocked off the window sill by our real cat who apparently didn't like the competition for attention. The statue had some damage, so I repaired what I could and then scanned it with the DAVID SLS-2 scanner and TT-1 turntable to get an accurate image. Then, using meshmixer software, I hid the remaining damage, creating an amazing replica of the original statue that's very difficult to spot where it was damaged. And now, printed out of ABS plastic, it's a lot tougher for our cat, Ziggy, to break. Plus, if he does manage to break it, I can just print another one and save myself some trouble! He is definitely not pleased about this new development. This statue prints really well with minimal issues, but it may require some supports under her left leg, belly, chin, and the last third of her tail, depending on how well your printer handles overhangs. You may also need to adjust the mesh in Z slightly during slicing to ensure a smooth print. Dropping the mesh by 0.2 to 0.4mm into your bed could help with this. I tried to set up the mesh so that it sits flat on your bed as is, but feel free to experiment and find what works best for you!
