This special version of the CAT 12 V plugs & sockets is designed to join together securely, preventing them from coming loose with movement and vibration. Additionally, the plug has a protective cover that ensures it cannot inadvertently touch metal surfaces and cause short circuits. This feature is especially beneficial when dealing with batteries and battery chargers, where both sides of the connection may be live. In contrast, a regular CAT plug can be inserted into any socket, but only click-lock plugs are compatible with click-lock sockets. Notably, a click-lock socket protrudes from wall plates instead of being flush-mounted. Note that as produced on my printer, they do not lock tightly; however, they resist dislodgment even in typical vehicle conditions, which can likely be fine-tuned if necessary.
