Cat Punchdown Puck
thingiverse
I designed this handheld punchdown puck from scratch to provide a secure grip while terminating ethernet wall jacks. I wanted it to support both top loading and front loading punchdowns, making it versatile for different applications. To personalize it, I added holes for engraving my name and favorite football team's logo - yes, I know their annual defeats still hurt. I used ABS material, which resulted in a 75% successful print with some minor issues. Thankfully, the final product turned out well despite the initial challenges. The first print had some imperfections, but it served as a learning experience. I must credit the Lions logo designer for the inspiration behind my creation. You can find their design on Thingiverse under the reference number 1778796. I've since created multiple versions with different teams and names for my coworkers, making it easy to customize according to individual preferences. To achieve this level of customization, simply create a 2-3MM hole for the logo or letter and then print the design at 99% scale to pop it in place. Some logos might not fit snugly, so consider gluing them in for added security. I personally prefer this method over painting individual designs. Here are my recommended print settings: Printer: III3 Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Resolution: .2 Infill: 85-100% Notes: To ensure the strength and durability of your custom punchdown puck, use a heavy infill setting. I've experimented with PLA, but ABS provides better results due to its higher strength. Supports are necessary for the middle square and possibly the side lip, depending on your printer's capabilities. As this is my first solo design, please be understanding if there are any areas that need improvement.
