We've just welcomed a new cat into our home. As she'll be an indoor cat for now, I needed to add ventilation to her litter box. This made the task slightly easier since we'd recently replaced our gas hot water heater with a solar-powered unit, providing a pre-existing hole in the ceiling and a chimney through the roof, though it's not yet connected. I found a suitable fan by repurposing parts from an old photocopier that had 24V fans. One larger fan was chosen, and to my surprise, it runs smoothly on 9V with minimal noise. I used an old 9V plug pack and added long wires to the fan. To make removing screws from plaster anchors easier, I angled the holes in the fan slightly. If you have longer screws available, they could be used not only for mounting the fan to the ceiling but also for holding the entire assembly together. Here are the files: https://www.tinkercad.com/things/k4lszZJBi0R-litterboxfan One file is on each end of the fan. https://www.tinkercad.com/things/drmilVXqqDe-litterboxfanend This one shows how to mount it on top of the litter box. The flexible hose is attached to the flanges with silicone sealant. Let's hope this setup effectively removes odors from the litter box.
