CAT-40 TAPER CLEANER
thingiverse
This handheld taper cleaner serves a vital purpose in machine tools utilizing the CAT-40 taper standard for their spindles. Throughout cleaning and other processes, fragments of chips and debris can get blown upwards into the spindle, posing a significant risk. Maintaining a clean taper within these spindles is paramount to preventing damage to the tapers and tool runout resulting from chips and debris getting stuck between precision tapers. Print Settings Rafts: This setting does not hold any significance. Any chosen raft design will suffice. Supports: A support strategy can be adopted; however, it will not significantly impact the final print product. Whichever type of support is selected will not compromise the quality of the print. Resolution: Printing at .2mm or higher resolution settings ensures an optimal output quality and is recommended for this specific design. Infill: Optimal infill ranges between 10-15%, along with the inclusion of at least three shells, helps achieve a superior structural integrity and is therefore preferred. Adequate structural stability is assured by incorporating these parameters. Notes: Both printed components can be reliably positioned vertically on the print bed due to their specifically designed geometry. Post-Printing non-printed parts Once printed, simply assemble both pieces by inserting a taper into each matching channel, thus allowing for smooth alignment. The design features three channels that extend along the sides of the cleaner and will require wool, felt, or leather strips to be glued into place for proper function.
