This scan is from Castle remains in Southampton England, a truly unique town boasting impressive castle wall ruins protected along its entire coast. The model has been meticulously scaled, cleaned, and placed with environment domes within Maya. Created from an extensive collection of 225 high-quality photos, Reality Capture technology was used to create this precise replica. The model includes two stunning HDR 360 panoramic images that can be utilized for lighting in any 3D package. The camera employed is a Sony A7, equipped with a versatile 24mm lens, shooting raw files while secured to a tripod and controlled remotely in portrait position. Following the photo shoot, the images were imported into Adobe Lightroom for subtle adjustments to compensate for changing lighting conditions throughout the day. On location, bright sunshine alternated with occasional clouds that would suddenly alter the entire lighting atmosphere. Additionally, a one-hour break during the shoot allowed the sun to shift significantly, presenting an added challenge. Despite these obstacles, this detailed scan has been optimized in Maya to 198k polys for Sketchfab display, while a high-resolution version featuring HDR panos is available at Snaptank: https://www.snaptank.com/author/jon. Five annotation points are provided to facilitate seamless navigation and exploration within VR environments.
