Castle MakerBot
thingiverse
Introducing my entry to the BotBling competition, Castle MakerBot! It's a Castle-themed design that includes four turrets, several coat of arms, medieval wall torches, stained glass rose window, and a runic keypad for the Gen4 interface. The majority of the design was done in OpenScad, with the exception of the stained glass window which remains in Sketchup. I plan to move this element to OpenScad soon. The coat of arms is parametric and offers a choice of seven logos in three different positions. Torches are made from LED tealights that flicker like real fire. Castle turrets fit perfectly on the rod end caps of a Thing-O-Matic. The stained glass rose window features pieces printed in blue PLA, natural PLA, red ABS, and black ABS. I have plans to add more elements to this design if I find time. Check out the video for a closer look at the various parts of the castle. Note that the focus is off in some parts and the stills on the left may be more informative. Turn down the volume as the only sound is me being clumsy! Don't forget to check out the torches, coat of arms, stained glass window, runic stickers, and dragon head trophy (designed by TBuser) that I have incorporated in this design. The unicorn logo was created by LangfordW and the open source hardware logo by Clothbot. Please feel free to poke around in the OpenScad files, especially the coat of arms which offers a plethora of options. Here's hoping you like it!
