This is a compact mold Box and mold Cylinder for creating RTV (room Temperature Vulcanization) Silicone rubber molds of small gears and objects, as well as a Flask and Sprue base for lost wax casting of small parts. To use this setup, simply place an object on the base of the box or cylinder, allowing small undercuts if using flexible silicone rubber two-part mixes. Next, mix the silicone rubber and pour it over the part at the base of the box or cylinder. Once the silicone rubber is removed from the mold, it can be used as a casting mold for the small part. The base of the box and cylinder measures about 35mm in height. The walls are angled outward to make it easier to remove the mold from the casting box. Designing This Mold Box I designed this setup using TrueSpace software, completing the design in just seven minutes while working exclusively with primitives. From inception to final publication, the entire process took a mere thirteen minutes. Overview and Background A small mold box or cylinder is often useful for creating silicone rubber molds of small parts. Having one on hand can be quite handy, especially when making RTV Silicone rubber molds. The casting flask included in this setup may also be used for lost wax casting.
