sketchfab
In January 2018, archaeologists discovered in the basement of plot 584, block 1, of Pamplona's city, archaeological remains of one of the towers of the castle that gave its name to the most unique square of Navarra's capital, Plaza del Castillo. 710 years earlier, during King Louis I, known as the Hutín (1305-1314), a French-style castle was commissioned to be built on the wasteland that divided the three boroughs of the city (between Navarreria, San Cernin Borough and San Nicolas Neighborhood). In January 2008, work began which would last almost three years to build an urban Gothic castle with a quadrangular floor plan, four cylindrical towers encircled within a walled enclosure where officers' homes and Saint Michael's Chapel were located.
