Caster Adapter for Husky HD Cabinet
thingiverse
I created this adapter to attach caster wheels to my Husky heavy duty 5-drawer cabinet. Home Depot supposedly "sells" a caster kit for this cabinet, but it's been out of stock for months with no resolution in sight. I could find no other source for heavy duty casters that match the oversized bolt pattern on the cabinet. This adapter is sized for 4" 2200# casters from Amazon (https://a.co/d/8SpkJxZ), attached with 5/16-18x3/4" bolts, nuts and double washers. The Husky cabinet has threaded holes to which I attached the adapter using 3/8-16 x 1-3/4" bolts. I used blue threadlocker and tightened all the bolts to "that feels about right". The PLA+ is stronger than PLA, but don't go gorilla on it and crush it; nylon might be a more durable material if you're into that. The Adapter design includes a ribs component; if you modify the adapter, you'll need to add the ribs as a modifier (Add Modifier\Load) to the adapter, then change the number of perimeters to get the ribs to print inside the adapter. I used captured nuts on the back (top) of the adapter, but you could place bolts that way if you prefer. The adapter is 12.7mm thick because I initially planned to have it fabricated from 1/2" steel; you can change any parameters in the .f3d file.
