Castelseprio - Lapide Longobarda
sketchfab
Castelseprio-Torba The fortified settlement of Seprium was incorporated into the late Roman system of elevated fortifications and reused by the Longobardi, who were later destroyed by the Visconti in the late 200s. The preserved circuit walls, residential fabric, and cult complex of San Giovanni Evangelista are completely restructured by the Longobardi in the VII century. A notable example of military architecture is the Torre di Torba, used as a female monastery in the late Longobardi era. The Church of Santa Maria foris portas, located outside the walls where the medieval town developed, was built as an aristocratic private building with adjacent cemetery area.
