The Castellón Alto settlement is situated within the El Argar Culture, during an advanced period of the Full Bronze Age, and dates back to 1900-1600 BCE. It consists of a habitat that spans two large connected units: the cabezo or espolón, with its three natural terraces where dwellings are located, and the adjacent slope of the hill. The Upper Terrace is separated from the rest of the settlement by a perimeter wall, forming an acropolis zone where the elite residents lived, equipped with essential elements for survival such as the Cistern or water reservoir. Notably, this site boasts the discovery of the Man of Galera (Europe's second-oldest mummy) and 130 burials within residential units; these, except for infant inhumations in urns, are found in artificially excavated rock cavities sealed by large slabs.
