The Cassini mission to Saturn is one of the most daring undertakings in planetary space exploration ever embarked upon. A collaborative effort between NASA, the European Space Agency (ESA), and the Italian space agency, Agenzia Spaziale Italiana (ASI), Cassini is a highly advanced robotic spacecraft circling the ringed planet and meticulously examining the Saturnian system. The Cassini mission also included a probe called Huygens, which parachuted safely onto the surface of Saturn's largest moon, Titan, in January 2005, yielding extraordinary results. After two decades spent exploring space, NASA's Cassini spacecraft is nearing the culmination of its remarkable journey. With nearly all of its rocket propellant exhausted, operators are intentionally guiding Cassini into Saturn to ensure that the planet's moons remain untouched for future explorers.
