Cassette door for Tascam 246 portastudio
thingiverse
I recently acquired a Tascam 246 Portastudio that was remarkably well-preserved except for the missing cassette door. Although not essential to its operation, this component plays a crucial role in keeping dust out of the cassette compartment and adds to the machine's overall aesthetic appeal. The absence of the door renders it somewhat disfigured. Upon inspecting the device, I discovered several loose parts, including hinges, scattered within the interior. This led me to decide that recreating the door would be a worthwhile endeavor. The recreated door comprises two 3D-printed hinge components and a sheet of 2mm plexiglass. To assemble this structure, I employed four M3 knurled insert nuts, which were melted into place within the hinge components, and four M3 thumbscrews to secure everything together.
