Cassandra Delta Printer
thingiverse
Here's my second DELTA printer, which I've named CASSANDRA. It measures in at a standard size with a print diameter of approximately 210 mm and a print height of about 235 mm. Given that this printer is constructed from aluminum profiles measuring 10x10 mm, 1 mm thick, its print speed comes out to around 30-40 mm / s. Nevertheless, it prints remarkably well, doesn't it? The extruder on this unit is the TwoTrees Titan and E3D V6 clone hotend with a PTFE heatbreak and nozzle of 0.4mm. I've opted not to include a heatbed; instead, I'm using an ordinary glass plate that's 3 mm thick. This allows me to print with PLA or PETG since these materials do not require a heatbed. Incidentally, the orange female torso is printed from PETG, while all other parts are made from PLA. On this printer, of course... The motors used on this printer are Moons NEMA14 0.9 degrees, and I've modified the Creality 1.1.4 mainboard (added a 1K resistor for bed leveling probe). For control, I'm using a rotary encoder, and the LCD display is connected to I2C since the motherboard utilizes A4988 drivers. To achieve smoother motion, I've connected TL-smoothers. All printed parts are primarily made from orange PETG, similar to those found on PRUSA designs. Some parts are created using PLA, while others were printed directly on this printer. The dimensions of this printer measure 338x299x600mm, with diagonal rods standing at 250 mm long. The printer is mounted onto a base constructed from MDF that's 16 mm thick. This design was created in SketchUp Make 2017 and has been mostly printed using PETG with layer thickness set to 0.2mm and an infill of 30%. The bolts, washers, and nuts (inserts) used throughout this printer are all M3, except for the endstops which require M2x10 and the extruder which uses M4x10. The motors feature integrated 16-t pulleys for GT2 belts, while idlers are also 16-t. I've added settings for Marlin 1.1.8 and profiles for PrusaSlicer. Update: As of April 10, 2020, I've included a new 3-hole fanduct to improve air distribution to print cooling.
