Caspar Jacob Christiaan Reuvens, a renowned Dutch historian and archaeologist, was born on 22 January 1793. He served as the founding director of the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden, the world's first national museum dedicated to antiquities, in Leiden, Netherlands. As the globe's inaugural professor of archaeology at Leiden University, Reuvens made significant contributions to his field. Notably, he initiated excavations at Forum Hadriani, a Roman provincial site located within the Netherlands, thereby pioneering archaeological research in this region.
