I'm developed and design a roller shutter system for my case, which measures W: 28cm H: 28cm. I was tired of seeing plastic bags with breads looking messy on my kitchen counter. My new setup looks cleaner now that the bags are hidden from view. To optimize the shape for 3D printing, I've set up a design specifically for a 0.4 nozzle system. The print process involves two passes around the shape and then moving to the next layer. The parts can be found in two categories: guides and rolls. Guides include rails, turns, and ends, while rolls consist of the main part, holder, end, and closure. Version 1 of the design features a simple shape with a 0.8mm shell thickness, which has proven to be stable during printing. In contrast, Version 2 is not suitable for printing due to melting issues when placed at higher positions. When it comes to printing time and process, I've focused on achieving high-quality results while minimizing print time. A moderate fan speed was used, and I advise increasing the brim size for better adhesion to the bed. The material used for this project is Colorfabb black PLA, with a layer height of 0.1mm and temperatures within the recommended range by the manufacturer. The total printing time came out to be around 3 hours and 45 minutes per roll. To give you an idea of the scale, I've printed 32 rolls, 2 holders, and 2 closures, as well as 12 mid-guides, 12 end-guides, and 4 turns. In total, this project took approximately 70 hours to complete. I hope that this design will be helpful for your open cases at home.
