I made a few tweaks to seal the edges of the screen tight and carved out a recess for i2c connections soldered directly onto the lcd since the pins kept getting in the way. I reinforced the fastening straps as well, figuring they'll be on the outside of the wooden box from now on - no need for a back cover. This design change was easy to implement and it's saving me some space.
