Case for ZX Spectrum Interface 1bis
thingiverse
A protective case shields the Interface 1bis ver. 4c's back side for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum. The design is not a complete enclosing box, but rather created to protect against accidental shorts and static when kids use the computer. Versions three onwards have enough space inside that you can leave the optional I2C mounted inside if you bought it for future use, noting how the loose connector is placed to avoid shorts. Note: No hole has been designed in yet for the cable. Version 4.1 should be used instead of version three. It has a slightly reinforced bottom holding flap and some cosmetic improvements. Version 4.2b features a hole for the I2C cable to exit through, and somewhat rounded corners. If you want to be able to pull the I2C cable out through the case or store it inside at will, this is the version you prefer. Sketchup source and earlier versions are included. Version one is not quite deep enough for the capacitors on the 4c, and the holding arms are too thin and fragile -- but if a flush back side is preferred, this may be a better starting point for modification. Version two works fine without the I2C cable mounted (not tested with it), and has a bit more robust bottom, however without the bottom holding flap and with a few holes a bit larger than optimal. The Interface 1bis home page can be found at https://sites.google.com/site/interface1bis/. A note for those selling printed versions of this case: there is no problem with earning a bit using the design. Add a simple line along "Designed by ZeAllan; source files available here:...." to your sales post, and in return for getting these files for free you will be honouring your part of the license under which you are allowed to sell printed copies. Print settings have been optimized for PLA using .24 layers, and -0.12 in Slic3r's XY Size Compensation to compensate for hole overflow. Support has been enabled for the joystick port part.
