Case for Raspberry Pi 2 Model B. Intended screws for attaching the board to the case are thread-forming screws PT K25, with nominal diameter of 2.5mm and length of 7mm. This project aimed to create a case for the Raspberry Pi 2 that would be optimized for injection moulding using a simple two-part moulding tool. Several requirements needed to be met: The board is connected to the case with thread-forming screws. Design for assembly and simple assembly were necessary. The case must withstand a static load of 20kg without deforming more than 1mm and not touching the board at any point. Mass must be less than 70g, and cases should be able to stack on top of each other. All joints needed to be calculated, and an analysis of injection moulding was required. The design of the moulding tool also had to be considered. My design has several advantages. I successfully hid the line between two parts inside the case, which I find aesthetically pleasing. Additionally, the force applied to the top of the case is transmitted through the ribs directly to the legs, affecting neither the board nor the bottom part. A snap fit was used, making assembly and disassembly quick and easy. The 3D printed version differs slightly from the original design. The top had to be made flat, and some parts were thickened (mainly ribs). I also changed the position of the slots on the bottom part to accommodate a ribbon cable for the camera. Several minor changes were made to improve printability. This case can be printed without support material. However, there are some tricky bridges and very thin parts that may require filing or sanding for a better fit, especially around the USB connectors. Note: A 1mm gap is intended between the case and the table to allow airflow from below and prevent the case from sitting on the ribbon cable.
