Case for Needle Files

Case for Needle Files

I missed calling this a file cabinet like a good driver misses a pedestrian. My needle files were stored in a flimsy plastic container that I had tolerated for far too long. But it was finally starting to show its age so I knew it was time to get a new one. My set of 12 files measures 140mm in length and 6mm in width, but if your files have different dimensions you will need to adjust the design accordingly. I printed the transparent top using transparent PLA on my Anet A8 with a PEI bed. The bottom tray was printed on my Ender 3. This was my first project where I had printed parts on two different machines and expected them to fit together seamlessly - and it did. The hinge pin is simply a length of raw PLA filament that I riveted at both ends using a lighter. If I were to do things differently, which I'm too lazy to do right now, I would make the perimeter walls thicker so they're more substantial, then make the lid thinner for better transparency and a more streamlined look.
