Case for NanoVNA (white gecko)
prusaprinters

This is a case for a variation of the NanoVNA (Vector Network Analyzer, a radio tool), I got a white one with a gecko on the front, it comes with a front and rear PCB but I didn't felt it got enough protection from that, so I wanted to add some sides and protrusions to cover the switches and connectors.

Note: There seems to be a new version of the white NanoVNA with USB-C, and it won't fit in this case.

Features:
Protects your VNA better.
Storage bin too keep track of calibration references (and a few other adapters if you want.
Storage bin cover can be used as stylus.
Raised edges around power switch makes it harder to turn on accidentally.
Makes the user input switch easier to maneuver.
Looks and feels more like a finished product.
More space for the battery.

Note: you might need other/extra fasteners.

Print Settings

Rafts:

Yes

Supports:

Yes

Notes:

The top part of the case need to be flipped upside down in the slicer.

Raft is recommended.

Supports are necessary.

Use a filament that's somewhat see-thru if you want to see the LEDs.

Post-Printing

Take it apart and prepare the VNA

Take apart your VNA by removing the screws.
Remove the nylon distances and put them back with an extra M2.5 washer on the backside.

Clean up supports

In my experience cleaning up from the supports take a bit of work, I ended up scraping the contact surface in the back with a chisel to make the screws reach.
If you don't want or can't fix it you could just blue the case together instead.

Mount the VNA in the case

Put the VNA in the bottom half of the bumper, put the front bumper on.
Put in the front PCB, screw it down.
Flip the assembly over.
Put the rear PCB in and screw it down.

How I Designed This

Designed with OnShape: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/f627fad51d186bd22ffd3c33/w/7de0872f391ecd8e806e38c5/e/31aae81f8991745c2cd5d3ef

Category: Tool Holders & Boxes
