Being new to 3D Printing and intimidated by warnings of printers catching fire, I decided to build an enclosure for my printer using Ikea Lack Tables with a safety mechanism in mind. I'm controlling my printer with Octoprint and have an OctoPi installation on my Raspberry Pi 3. To add some extra security features, I'm building in Relay controls using the Octoprint Enclosure Plugin. This will hopefully tie into an auto power kill for the printer if smoke is detected. Several versions of the MQ-2 Smoke Sensor are available, but most need an additional Analogue to Digital converter. The Keyestudio variant stood out because it's a slightly larger board with a digital output that can connect directly to a Pi GPIO Pin. Most of my enclosure has been constructed using 3D Models from Thingiverse created by others, some I've remixed and others have been printed as is. However, when it came to the sensor, I couldn't find any suitable designs so I decided to design one myself - it was my first model from scratch. When my enclosure is complete, I'll share a link here so that everyone whose work has contributed to it can be properly credited. I designed the sensor's dimensions with a friction fit in mind so that the board would fit snugly into the case and the lid would attach just as easily. The only screws needed are for mounting the entire assembly securely.
