Casabella smart mop

Initially, I found this challenge stimulating as it required innovative thinking. I favor problem-solving tasks over solely designing. To align with Casabella's branding, I developed the "Smart Mop" concept featuring a classic string mop head in a modern design. The mop is made of ABS molded plastic parts, steel tubing and rod, and screws/pins for simplicity. The mop head drains through a roller located inside the bottom casing. By pushing the handle downward, the user compresses the roller, which in turn compresses the mop head strings, draining them. When the user rotates the handle, the mop head is pulled back and drained completely. Upon returning the handle to its original position, the roller releases the mop head for use. The main costs involve tooling for ABS parts, which would be offset by low part prices and potential labor savings through overseas manufacturing. Estimated tooling costs are as follows: Roller casing - $8,000 to $10,000; Casing cap - $6,000; Handle - $5,000 to $8,000; Top handle - $3,000; Roller holder - $3,000; Handle rod cover - $1,000. All other components are off-the-shelf products. Please share your feedback on the design. Thank you!
