Casa do Penedo, more commonly referred to as Stone Castle or simply a Stone House, stands proudly between Celorico de Basto and Fafe, nestled in northern Portugal's picturesque landscape. Translated directly from Portuguese, Casa do Penedo takes on the English meaning of House of the Rock. This architectural masterpiece earned its name due to the ingenious use of four massive boulders that form not only its foundation but also serve as walls and ceiling. Construction commenced in 1972 and continued for roughly two years until completion in 1974.
