Antigua Casa Palacio Velasco, commonly known as the House of the Eagle, is named after the coat of arms that dominates its facade. Originally a construction from the XVI-XVII centuries, unfortunately only two shields from this facade remain. It was divided and sectioned into several buildings, changing hands of different owners and marking the beginning of the end. At the start of the XX century, it still had valuable paneling in the main entrance. In 1999, it was finally demolished to make way for a modern interpretation. This house is where Luis de Velasco y Ruiz de Alarcón, viceroy of Navarra and later of New Spain, and his son, Luis de Velasco y Castilla, also viceroy of New Castile and Peru, were born.
