The CASA CN-235, a medium range twin-engine turboprop transport aircraft, serves both military purposes and as a regional airliner and cargo plane. Its development began in 1980, and the first test flight occurred in 1983. It entered service in March 1988. The CN-235 was chosen by the US Coast Guard for medium range patrol missions under the HC144A designation. Two additional CN-235s operate with the US Air Force, maintaining undisclosed roles.
