Carved Wooden Bear
thingiverse
I made a digital scan of a carved wooden bear using my Makerbot Digitizer. Nearby, a store sells intricately crafted bears with some displaying witty signs that say things like "Welcome" or "Go away". To create my custom sign saying "Go Away", I utilized Solidworks to design it, then merged the new sign with the original scanned data using Meshmixer. The three-dimensional bear models in the image are scaled down to a compact 60mm height. Note that one model on the left was created with a cutting-edge 5th Generation machine while the other on the right was made with an advanced Rep 2.\n\nYou can produce smaller, simpler versions of this bear without supports, but a full-size model will require support. Be aware that it won't fit within the 150mm Z-axis build limit of a Rep 2 or 5th Gen machine, however, you can manufacture it at its intended size using a more spacious Lulzbot or Type A Machine Series 1.
