sketchfab
A stone sphere, discovered near Perth, Perthshire before 1952, was acquired by the Treasure Trove in 1997. The sphere was expertly carved into shape using pecking and grinding techniques. Incised lines marking two or more prominent knobs can still be observed on its surface. Further investigation revealed that the surface has been partially transformed into sixty-six smaller knobs, approximately one centimeter in diameter, with three additional marks noted on the surface. Dating back to the Late Neolithic era, around 3,200-2,500 BC, this stone sphere measures sixty-six millimeters in diameter and weighs four hundred and fifty grams. It is currently housed at the Perth Museum and Art Gallery, accession number PM 1997.465.
