Carved Cup
prusaprinters

This thing is from a scan of an African cup turned and then carved from cocobolo. The original cup was scanned using a NextEngineSD. The resulting file had to be fused using the newer ScanPro 64bit SW.

BTW.. note the 3D Printer! This was printed using a beta version of Carl Raffles' CloneR1. a coreXY all metal masterpiece of a 3D Printer!

The details of how this object was scanned and printed along with the story of the CloneR1 will be discussed on the 3D Printing Today Podcast:

threedprintingtoday.libsyn.com

or search for "3D Printing Today" in iTunes or Stitcher radio

Instructions

This stl file was printed using Simplify3D with three processes. One for the base which needed 6 shells and 20% infill to allow for the gentle slope of the base, the next process was for the middle part with 2 shells with 20% infill and a 2 shell top. The 3rd process was for the cup area with the carvings and it was 4 shells, 0% infill with a 1 shell bottom and no shells at the top.

The cup had an offset in the z axis of -1mm to ensure a nice flat bottom.

Alternatively one can try and print this upside down and let the printer bridge the bottom inner part of the cup.
Category: Scans & Replicas
