Cartridge Reset Plug (da Vinci 1.0)
thingiverse
Human: da Vinci 1.0 uses a "cartridge-plug" to reset cartridge counters on Arduino MICRO or UNO devices. Following my description, you are not protected from fault or resulting damages that may affect PCs, printers, or any other connected equipment. Damage to devices and warranties voids all responsibilities. Resetting is only effective with earlier firmware (FW) versions of daVinci 1.0, before version 1.2.3. However, it's possible to downgrade by finding the bossac-tool manual or xyzdowngrader in Voltivo forums or other places. Only proceed when your FW meets necessary conditions. My alternative (using FW 1.1.J) works as follows: 1. Print and solder wires into the "cartridge-plug." Connect these wires to a preferred Arduino device. 2. Program the Arduino with version 1.5.8 of the IDE, utilizing script found in GitHub or Voltivo forums. Now connect USB-power or alternative power sources as required and insert the cartridge-counter plug onto your device. After waiting for a few seconds (monitoring LED indicators), the counter will reset. For better results with non-xyz filament and longer lengths, keep an error message from occurring by limiting the length parameter to under 240m in your Arduino script. In future versions of this system, the process should be more convenient and automated, eliminating any necessity for plug insertion or printer restarts. However, a custom-built PCB makes this current setup work effectively. It now works with all types of filament from different manufacturers and with Firmware (FW) 1.1.J it successfully prints ABS and PLA material using Simplify3D settings. Please note: A new reset function can be achieved by accessing the counter via an external plug instead of the usual reset plug and is made possible thanks to the addition of a simple switch on top that changes between "Reading," "Programming," and "Ready" states.
