Strongly inspired from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2036886, I decided to give this design a unique twist by making it rotate around a vertical axis. To bring this vision to life, I needed two ball bearings that would fit perfectly in place. I chose the standard 8mm diameter balls found in roller skates or skateboards (diameter of 22mm and bore size of 7mm) for their ease of availability. Any friend who enjoys skateboarding or a local workshop will likely have some spare ones to lend, or you can purchase a new pair at an affordable price. As the center piece takes shape, I anticipate it will become a hub for paper clips and various knick-knacks to gather. When printing the outside drum, I encountered a surprise shortage of plastic material, which led me to appreciate the accidental creation that emerged. The depicted drum stands 35mm high, but under request from commenters, I can create a 3D model of a lower height version for those who prefer it. This design comes in two versions: 12 and 24.
