Amazigh Rugs: Typically, designs are deeply rooted in themes of fertility, sexuality, survival, protection, and the natural world - with most rugs meticulously hand-woven by family women within tight-knit communities that thrive on strong cultural traditions. For instance, the main 'female' symbol (alone or as a network), the lozenge, is likely the most significant motif in Berber carpets. The chevron, M-shape, and X-shape are other crucial female symbols. While a large single diamond could be seen as a vigilant guardian warding off evil forces, it can also represent female attributes and fertility. An X can be perceived as a body with arms and legs spread out in all directions.
