Don't fret about the red and black colors, I was just running low on red ink so I pressed pause, switched to black, and resumed printing. This compass has two essential functions: making perfect circles, just like any standard compass, and reproducing intricate shapes like rocks or, as shown in this video, a shower. If you need to fit a piece of wood snugly close, it can even help the process with a torpedo bubble level. Take a look at the accompanying images and video for a better understanding. To assemble this compass, you'll also require a 1 1/2-inch wood screw and a set of bolt and nut (1/4 -20 x 1"). It works best with carpenter flat pencils but will work just as well with any pen, pencil, marker, or chalk. I designed it for my daily work as a carpenter, but every kid who visits always takes home my compass, so I have to print myself a new one! If you need larger circles, simply print the slider and use a 10mm x 10mm piece of wood instead of the main component.
