UPDATE: Printed the first one today. There's a few fitment issues after printing the top without supports, but the base printed beautifully and fit the soda bottle threads like a glove. Giving some thought to redesigning the top or printing it with supports. New to Thingiverse and not sure why the models turned 90 degrees once uploaded, but the base is designed to be printed threaded base down and the tops should be printed also in bottom to top orientation to the bed. If anyone knows how to re-orient these files, please comment. They are all drawn on the top plane in SW so not sure why they tipped over when uploaded. Capture those pesky Carpenter Bees with this handy design before they eat away your home, shop, or exposed barn timbers. Carpenter bees will tunnel themselves into exposed wooden beams and travel linearly for long distances sometimes over 12 feet in one tunnel. During the winter months, they hibernate by the tens of hundreds in these tunnels and come spring their one and only goal is to mate, eat, and bore more tunnels to persevere the next winter. Carpenter bees are attracted to upward angled holes 1/2 inch in diameter and once they see these three inviting 45-degree angled tunnels they will head in for an un-escaping death trap of the 1-liter drink bottle screwed onto the bottom. Once inside the tunnels, they are inclined to travel to the top and once inside the main body, they are lured to the bottle via the daylight emitting up into the tunnel. Once in the bottle, they are so attracted to the light they simply die of dehydration and exhaustion. Built with two top options for hanging or wall mounting. The base dimension is 3 inches cubed with two different styles of tops depending on your structural needs. Simply screw on a 20oz clear soda drink bottle (I've tested the fit for Coke product bottles) to the bottom and insert a nail or screw to hang it from your wall, or screw an eyelet into the pitch point in the roof to hang under an eve or barn rafter. How I Designed This: SOLIDWORKS 2016 Designed with a hollow core inside the large base, it saves printing cost and time building only the core components of the base. The two optional tops are solid models with the angles cut off for more strength and warp resistance to maintain the top shape of the base unit. The top is designed to snap easily into the base unit making it a seamless one piece design. With the addition of a 20oz soda bottle, it'll be complete.
