Living off the grid has its unique set of challenges. Carpenter bees fall squarely into the "problem" column. While I'm no fan of cutting into pollinator populations, I also won't tolerate having my home devoured from the inside out. To that end, I've designed a carpenter bee trap that's simplicity itself to print, assemble and deploy with great success. The body threads are precision-engineered to snugly fit standard plastic soda bottles or you can opt for printing the included bottle. My best results have come from using wood PLA and matching my home's stain, but all colors and materials have proven effective at catching these unwanted visitors.
