Carp or common carp (Latin Cyprinus carpio) is a freshwater fish species of the radiate kind that belongs to the Cyprinidae family. Humans selectively bred this species through cultural methods. Listed among the world's 100 most invasive species, it poses significant threats to ecosystems worldwide. With its large size and omnivorous diet, carp has adapted well to various aquatic environments. Its body is moderately elongated, covered in smooth scales that are densely packed and quite large. The fish's back often darkens, while its belly shines with a golden hue. However, the exact coloration can vary significantly depending on the environment it inhabits. Some rare specimens have been known to grow over 20 kg in weight and reach lengths of more than one meter.
