Carousel for 10 x needle files
thingiverse
So, I had some 608ZZ skateboard bearings just collecting dust, and it dawned on me that I needed a more efficient way of organizing my set of 10 diamond needle files used for cleaning up prints so I could easily pick out the particular file I wanted to use. This setup should accommodate most needle files as long as the handle diameter is around 4mm (the holes in the holder are 5mm in diameter). My files came with a pesky rubber coating over their bare metal handles, which were only 3mm in diameter. So, I cut that off and replaced it with heatshrink tubing, bringing the handle diameters to just under 4mm. You'll also need 2 x 608ZZ bearings and some self-adhesive rubber feet for the bottom of the base part to prevent it from sliding around on your workbench. I designed this setup so I could hold the base between my muddle-finger and thumb with one hand, while spinning the carousel round with the forefinger of the same hand. This way, I can easily select which file I want with the other hand. File holes are chamfered at the top to allow putting the file back in the hole by feel alone.
